Police Patrol Officer: The Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Department of Law Enforcement is now accepting applications for the positions of a Full Time Patrol Officer. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, must possess a valid Montana Driver’s License, must not have any felony convictions and must successfully complete Post Standard requirements set forth by the State of Montana. POST Certification is preferred but not required at this time. Applicants are subject to a thorough background and driving record checks and must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Must complete the Law Enforcement Academy Basic Certification Course within one year of hire. Must observe the following order of progression: probationary officer, officer. Each succeeding progression will be based on successful completion, as documented by evaluation, or the preceding rank. Successful applicant is required to go through a thorough psychological examination as well as a physical examination.
Must have a working knowledge of criminal codes and state statutes and city-county ordinances; the policy rules and regulations of the department; knowledge of traffic rules and regulations, accident investigation, search and seizure, arrest procedures, use of firearms, machines and equipment, techniques and procedures, first aid and crowd control practices. Applicants must show valid picture identification at time of testing. Probationary wage for this position is $16.92 (plus city-county and union benefits) and $20.56 (plus benefits) after successful completion of the one-year probationary period.
