County Attorney

Duties

The County Attorney’s Office is responsible for prosecuting both misdemeanor and felony crime which occurs within Anaconda-Deer Lodge County. Other duties include:

  • Assisting law enforcement with search warrants and investigative subpoenas
  • Counseling Adult Protective Services
  • Filing all cases of abuse and neglect and act as counsel for the Department of Public Health and Human Services, Family Services Division
  • Handling of all petitions for involuntary commitment
  • Legal adviser to various boards, departments, the Chief Executive and Commission
  • Working with adult and juvenile probation and parole, and filing petitions when appropriate and revoke prior sentences when violations occur
