The Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Board of Commission will hold a public hearing during their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 beginning at 6:00 P.M. in the 3rd floor Courtroom of the County Courthouse, 800 Main Street, Anaconda, MT. The Board will take public comment and then take action on the following item:
A Petition to Abandon THE PORTION OF 5TH STREET that lies between the right-of-way (R/W) of main street and the alley that runs between main street and oak street, anaconda original townsite. The School District owns the only properties adjacent to the R/W proposed to be vacated. The property to the north of the proposed vacation is Lots 7-8, Block 70, Anaconda Original Townsite, and to the south is Lots 7-12, Block 87, Anaconda Original Townsite, currently occupied by Anaconda High School. Both the R/W proposed for vacation and the afore-described property to the north are presently and historically used as open space and grounds for the high school. SD10 proposes to construct a vocational education facility on these two properties. The SD10 Board feels strongly that the vocational facility will have substantial benefits to the Anaconda community by providing job skills training for some students while continuing to prepare others for post-secondary education in their chosen fields.
This meeting is open to the public and public comment is welcome. Information regarding this petition is available for review at the ADLC Planning Department located on the ground floor of the County Courthouse.
